Damn, it's day 3 and i'm ready to kick it! Feeling fly. Its barely noon and its already tipping 100 on the heat index, i'm sure of it. First up was the most awesome and inspiring Bat for Lashes, needless to say we in the crowd were wowed and she went through song after song just laying into each and every note. However, the Street Index noticed something out of the ordinary while at the performance, During one of her songs (it might have been "Siren Song" or "Wizard") that she hit the climax and on the peaking note on that climax the most massive gust of wind just through the crowd and past Natasha in her most fantastic sequenced leotard and flew open the back of the stage. It was utterly amazing! She even commented on it in an interview with Billboard.
On from there we drifted towards the Chicago 2016 stage were we drank some, and sat some, and danced some to the Airborne Toxic Event. But once again, all of a sudden, we found our selves back at the Vitaminwater stage for Dan Deacon and his traveling band of...well, band members. I love Dan's music. There just isn't any expectations except for audience participation.
At one moment during the performance we were all instructed to point to a phallic looking balloon and then to place our hands on the head of the person in front of us and to suck out all the negative energy and release it into the cosmos. Another interactive thing we did was to participate on a kneeling interpretive dance lead by the bus driver, Geoff. A circle was created and the crowd was challenged to mimic him as he moved around. His offering to the weather gods for such sunny weather was trash. Suddenly Deacon took to his synths, sine wave oscillator, distorters and his mic and slammed the crowd with a rousing rendition of Crystal Cat. With that the libation was sent sailing into the air! Vitamin Water bottles, beer cans and cigarette packs rained down and the dancing began again with great glee. what fun!
The party traveled up the slope and stopped in front of Citi Stage where there was a massive crowd lined up for Passion Pit. At 5:00 on the dot the gang let loose their ecstatic electro-pop upon a crowd of the willing. The street was packed with everyone dancing, it was an awesome show!
Snoop Kicked it for us old school slipping onto the stage the crowd went nuts. He's been doing the same act for years now but that shit was tight. Hands up, heads bopping like... pass that!
The Killers brought Vegas to the masses last night as they closed out the 13th Lollapalooza festival under Chicago’s skyline. Fake palm trees, neon lights, and flashy visuals turned the Chicago 2016 into Sin City for just under an hour and a half as Brandon Flowers belted out hits like “Human”, “Bones”, and the obvious “Mr. Brightside”. The show should have been advertised as a 16-song sing-a-long as the roughly 40,000 screaming fans were singing along to all the obvious singles. After briefly leaving the stage on the conclusion of “All These Things That I’ve Done”, the guys came back out adding two songs, “Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine” and “When You Were Young”, to their setlist.
The sun, long gone, and the last note, fading out, Lollapalooza had ended. If you weren't at Lolla this year, I would advise you to make it a priority next year. To those who were there, never let the party end.
