The Chicago emcee was the first artist signed to Kanye West’s Kon Man Productions and is one of, if not the most, ferocious lyricists in the city. Mikkey has been patiently waiting for his shot at hip hop domination. It seems his time has come...
Today, Mikkey is a product of the Southside of Chicago's notorious Wild 100's section rapping about neighborhoods infested with drugs, guns, hoes, GDs, BDs, Stones and other troublesome things. Yet, he is a lyrical genius. If knowledge of his master’s degree in education does not hint at the extraordinary aptitude of his work then certainly the you will understand when you listen to his music.
Mikkey Halsted feat. Kaye Fox - "Karma" (Prod. by No ID). Karma is the second official leak from Mikkey's upcoming debut, Chicago: The Photo Album.
In the most recent edition of URB Magazine there is an article detailing a massive shout out from Lil' Wayne to Mikkey...
Having arguably the biggest rapper in the game, Lil Wayne, shouting you out as their inspiration and teacher in XXL Magazine is nothing to sneeze at. And that’s exactly what happened in the October ‘08 issue. Here’s to hoping Mikk gets that proper push he deserves in ’09, so he can catch up to his apprentice. "...But they had this one rapper. Mikkey. If anybody had me really get on my shit, [it's] Mikkey."
