Street art will get its first awards event in December and the winners will be chosen by the public. Street art has brought democracy to the art world. It has created an individually driven culture where Damien Hurst can sell his artwork directly at auction and a random Banksy on the wall of your house can raise its value.The General Public can go here to register for free to cast their ballot, upload their own images, and browse hundreds of other images of street art from all over the world.
There are two categories, Urban Art and street art... below are the leaders of each category as of today...
Urban Art: CASE- "Porky Bible"
Street Art: Banksy- "Cave Painting"
Like any awards show, the winners will be awarded with specially commissioned sculptures.
Street Art Awards will take place on December 4th at Rough Trade East, London, when the best piece of street art from 2008 will be announced. Members of the public can vote online or cast a ballot on the night.
