Broody pieces about waspy dysfunction
Wesley Allsbrook was born and raised in the north/central region of North Carolina. After graduating from RISD, she settled into life as a freelance illustrator, producing not just for commission, but for her own pleasure. What drew me to her images was the superb use of color, the delicate lines, and the splendid layering effect similarly to Japanese woodblock prints, which similarly are employed to tell a complex story. their tension and flow, their mix of the familiar and the decidedly strange simultaneous mixed, sometimes create and expression of joy or something darker. These characteristics are evidence supporting a young artist of immense talent and originality. Enjoy.
