Given the Current State of our Country These Guys have Material for a while
Yeasayer is a Brooklyn based indie experimental rock group comprised of Anand Wilder, Chris Keating, Ira Wolf Tuton, and Luke Fasano. They have describe their sound as being "Middle Eastern-psych-snap-gospel". On their debut full-length, All Hour Cymbals, Yeasayer display a preoccupation with our world's increasingly bleak prospects. in their first singles released from the album consisted of the tracks "Sunrise" and, a personal favorite, "2080".
Yeasayer- "2080"
Yet, while the take a lot of inspiration from all different kinds of music from all around the world, and their music is sometimes labeled 'world music', they tend to shy away from the sort of mass lumping of non-English/American music that comes with that label. However, Their poly-rhythmic backbeat and melodious uplifting chants creates a sound that's extremely enjoyable to just lay down chill to... Yeasayer has started recording their sophomore album and you can track its progress via blog.
