"Welcome to the Heartbreak"

Here is a video directed by Nabil Elderkin the intro song off of 808s. Nabil has done some other Music videos for Kanye, including "Champion" and "Throws Some D's on it (parody)". Even though this is not being released as the next single, Kanye said on his blog that "Amazing" is to be the next single.

First, this made my eyes hurt. It's deceiving. At first I thought the compression was horrible, creating an extremely pixilated image. I tried to reload the video a few times before I realized that its supposed to be that way! But it seems that this visual effect works extremely well with the rest of the visual effects, as well as the sound effects... especially the auto-tuner (which doesn't go well with anything). Also while I watched this and read comments of "original" or "crazy new effect" I couldn't help but remember another music video released by the indie band, Chairlift for their song, "Evident Utensil" to view via here. Supposedly this is a technique called "Data Moshing" which is a slang term for the effect that is known as Compression Hack Fade or Compression Hacking.
