The Patron Express

Two Tuesday nights ago (5/19), I joined my cousin Brook, Co-pres of All Terrain Integrated Marketing and took part in celebrating her birthday and enjoying the tasty treats of both the visual appeal of the Patron Tequila Express and the savory gustation of the many fine spirits produced by Patron. The night was historically overwhelming. First, the small train platform (in the past used by old post office trains to unload their tow) was crammed with at least 50 people. The real historic star was the train car. The private car is owned by John Paul DeJoria, who owns the Patron Spirits Company. Car #50 was built in 1927, and it decked out in plush fabrics and decked out with intricate Hindu and Buddhist wood carvings (evidently, gifts from a guru to the car’s previous owner) and original 14th-century Gothic art alongside 17th century Baroque Art.

The train has played host to the likes of Clark Gable, Huey P. Long, The 34th President of the United States, Harry S. Truman, and the 32nd President of the United States, FDR. On a side note, legend has it, that Dan Aykroyd, DeJoria hatched the idea for The House of Blues while lounging in the den of the car.

Set up outside the train was an interesting artist by the name of Chadwick the Artist. The Chicago based, self-made "live painter," puts his entire artistic process- from start to finish -out in the open for all to track. He seemed to be in his own world but yet connected to the one behind him, painting to music, or the sounds of the platform, or the movement of people through the train. either form of inspiration he was pouring every bit of energy into the expression of this moment in time.

All and all, just a very cool night.
