Brooklyn Bowl and THE L MAGAZINE'S FAT TUESDAY WITH SOUTHERN COMFORT PRESENT:
In honor of Fat Tuesday and its venerable tradition of indie rock and bicycle processions, The L Magazine, in conjunction with Southern Comfort, have organized a night of lo-fi surf punk and two-wheeled parade pageantry to put New Orleans to shame. As part of the celebration, Wavves along with rising beat-maker, dance-starter MNDR.
There will also be a parade -- a Brooklynized Mardi Gras affair featuring a marching band, burlesque dancers (including a float with Angie Pontani, Helen Pontani, Darlinda Just Darlinda, Akynos, The Maine Attraction and Lil Miss Lixx), beginning at 7pm at McCarren Park and Driggs. Costumed revelers and bicyclists are invited to join. The parade will then proceed down Driggs, up Bedford and over to Wythe Avenue, arriving at Brooklyn Bowl around 8pm, where prizes await the best bicycle float. The best-dressed revelers will be crowned king and queen of the Carnival. There will be Southern Comfort specials throughout the night. As well as special prizes for the most outlandish Mardi Gras costumes.
